Using version 2.6–2.10? Please update to 2.11.
In those versions, the plugin’s own Update now button could switch the updated plugin off — and when updating XYZ Theme itself, show “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” This is fixed in 2.11.

- Go to Plugins and click Activate under XYZ Theme, plus any other plugin you updated with Update now.
- Update XYZ Theme to 2.11 from Dashboard → Updates or the Plugins page (not from the plugin’s own Update now button, just this once).
